Here’s how to unlock the Mentat class in Dune Awakening, with exact locations for the basic and advanced trainers.
Dune Awakening throws you into the brutal world of Arrakis, where survival depends on more than just weapons and armor. The game lets you choose from five distinct class paths, each one offering its own strengths and abilities.
In this guide, we’re focusing on the Mentat, a high-IQ, tech-savvy class built for long-range attacks, traps, and tactical disruption. We’ll walk you through how to unlock the Mentat path, where to find the trainers, and what quests you’ll need to complete, both at the start and later on when you’re ready for advanced skills.

How to Unlock the Mentat Class – Basic Trainer Location
To unlock the Mentat class, you’ll need to find an NPC named Samin Morro, who’s located in an area called Rift Watch. This outpost sits on the eastern side of the Hagga Basin, in a subregion known as Hagga Rift. You’ll know you’re close once you spot a fortified base that looks a little different from the other camps scattered across the desert.
Once you reach Rift Watch, look near the contract board at the base of the structure. You’ll find Samin Morro nearby, ready to offer you the Mentat contract. Accept his quest, and you’ll start a short questline that unlocks the Mentat skill tree.

Mentat Advanced Trainer Location
Once you’ve unlocked the Mentat class and started leveling your abilities, you’ll eventually want to boost those skills even further. That’s where the Advanced Mentat Trainer comes in.
Head to Arrakeen, the game’s central city. The person you’re looking for is Zayn De Witte. You’ll find the trainer inside a bar called the Salusan Bull. From the spawning point, head upstairs toward the central area of the settlement, then take the first right and go downstairs. Zayn is at the back of the pub.
He’s the one who offers you the questline needed to unlock advanced Mentat upgrades. Once you complete his set of tasks, he’ll grant you access to higher-tier abilities, letting you boost your existing skills to level 2 and unlock more tactical options.

Once you’ve unlocked both levels of the Mentat class, you’ll have access to the full range of gadgets, support tools, and unique combat perks that make this path one of the most versatile in the game.
